The formers (painted green have been added to shape the fuselage skins to the shape of the Ki27. An unaltered BT-13 canopy has been placed on the fuselage.
Bob is our trusty sheet metal guy. He will also reform the canopy.
While Bob has been working on the formers, Cliff has been resealing the Mooney fuel tanks. The access panels are removed in this picture. New drains were also added.
That canopy will need a lot of work.
The Mooney wing fairings fit in place perfectly.
Bob is adjusting the canopy to fit the fuselage.
The canopy has been re-shaped and is blocked in place. A panel has been added to the bottom of the canopy for the rails.
Cliff is hanging the re-shaped firewall.
Now that looks much more like a Ki27 canopy. Bob does good work.
Cliff is hooking up the rear cockpit control stick.
This is the control tube for the front cockpit. The large ring below the tube is the mount for the oil cooler. Cliff did some outstanding design work to make all this fit together.
Front view of the oil cooler under the front control stick and tube.
In this view you can see the rudder pedals and brake cylinders.
This shows how the right aileron will be attached to the control tube.
The left side view.
All of the controls and the oil cooler can be seen here. Cliff worked hard to fit all of this in place and to get it operational.
The front of the control tube stops close to the rudder pedals. The rudder pedals have just enough room, forward and aft, to work.
